Our building experience with Amity Construction enabled our dream home to become a realization – from buying the land to moving in and we have enjoyed every minute here for the last 3 years. We had definitive design ideas which they converted to a functional and code-compliant blueprint. The communication throughout the process was open and honest. From the onset until completion we were extremely satisfied with every phase of the building of our new kitchen and family room. Russ’s design greatly enhanced our original plan, so that the new rooms surpassed our expectations! Once they began the job, Amity Construction was here most every day. Russ was most accommodating when we had second thoughts on the windows, even though it would mean some major changes, and he persevered when a serious problem arose with the installation of the hood over our stove. There were no hidden costs; everything was spelled out initially and adhered to. Any call we made with questions/concerns during the construction was answered within twenty-four hours as the work progressed. The kitchen and family room are stunning! We continue to receive comments from friends and relatives, a few who are planning their own upgrades as a result. Amity Construction & Design worked with us from concept and design, through successful completion of both projects. I acted as my own general contractor (not something I recommend for the weak of heart) on both projects. In both projects, Russ Smith acted as a source of information, and guidance. Both additions are built much more energy efficient than the original home, which was built in 1992. The use of half inch foam panels in the walls, and one inch foam panels in the ceilings added an unexpected level of sound proofing to the expected increase in R value.
